Meet a pizza delivery droid called ‘DRU’

March 18, 2016BillBruceComms

In Australia, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises (Domino’s) has unveiled the world’s first autonomous pizza delivery vehicle!

The autonomous robotic platform inside the custom body was supplied by Sydney, Australia-based Marathon Targets.

DRU (Domino’s Robotic Unit) is a four wheeled autonomous delivery vehicle with compartments built to keep the customer’s order hot and drinks cold while traveling on the pavement – at a safe speed – from the shop to the customer’s door.

Marathon isn’t new to robots. It delivered the world’s first autonomous robotic targets to the Australian Defence Force way back in 2008.
